Accountant / Financial Controller

Job description

Our client, an international software company with subsidiary in London (75 people in the UK, 200+ in EMEA) is looking for an experienced Accountant to assist in managing their day-to-day accounting and finance requirements. Excellent organizational skills and accuracy are important qualifications for this position. The ideal candidate for this position is a skilled multi-tasker, is reliable and is committed to consistently meeting deadlines.

 

Key Responsibilities
Supports EMEA Team in a large number of areas including:

  • AP – Invoices coding and posting, running AP aging and making payments
  • Reconciliation and review of AP, Inter Company, VAT, Payroll, Accrual & Prepayments
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliation statements
  • AR – Receipt and posting on local ledgers and running AR aging on time
  • General accounting – GL maintenance, GL posting, reconciliations, monthly close process
  • Preparing management packs and related reconciliations
  • Ad-hoc support for preparing external audit material, corporate reporting, annual tax return and tax issues
  • Prepare, review and maintain internal controls, in certain cases define and implement control processes for bookkeepers
  • Ensure that monthly operating posting and journals are accurate & accounting records are maintained
  • Ensuring that internal controls comply with SOX requirements
  • Ad-hoc tasks as needed by the team

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent is required; ACCA or CIMA or similar
  • Background/experience working for a multi-national firm or mid-tier accounting firm
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge
  • ERP – Netsuite experience will be an advantage
  • US GAAP and/or UK GAAP knowledge and tax knowledge
  • Highly service-orientated individual with a pleasant personality
  • Motivated, enthusiastic individual with strong organizational skills
  • Experience dealing with other countries aside of UK
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
  • European language preferable: Italian, Dutch, French or German
  • Proficient Excel skills – Use of Pivot tables, Vlookups
